Anti-Racism and Feminism as Activism in EU and Comparative Law
Organisation: L.Clément-Wilz and F.G.Nicola
This Seminar delves into the influence of legal narratives, professional attitudes, and doctrines in shaping societal impacts. EU and comparative law scholars, lawyers, and jurists are increasingly challenged to recognize how legal frameworks both reflect and reinforce societal values like equality, efficiency, and redistribution. Law also holds a pivotal role in the ongoing struggles for emancipation of women and racialized communities, pushing us to consider the broader implications of our work. Focusing on "scholactivism" – the intersection of scholarship and activism –attendees will examine how anti-racist and feminist perspectives can enhance legal scholarship without compromising academic rigor. This gathering offers a unique platform for reflecting on the responsibilities of legal academia in advancing justice and inclusion.
